Mike Perks hails from the Eastern Cape where he grew up on a farm near Cathcart and went to school in East London. He has lived in PE since the early 80's.
Mike is a CA(SA) by profession and after articles with Deloitte, he worked for Scripture Union as regional director for 12 years, during which time he became involved with Sumcay.
He was then IT Manager at PKF in PE for 6 years before starting his own business (Flexcel Reporting) as an Excel consultant, creating management reports for companies in SA and all over Africa. He is currently working in Tanzania.
Mike is married to Barbie and they have 2 sons.
He loves travelling, sport and outdoors.
Mike has been involved at Sumcay Camping for over 40 years, mostly as treasurer.

Ermelo Family Life Church and is currently working as a Financial Manager at one of the local mines. He is married to a wonderful wife, Gwen, and together they have three beautiful kids.
Charl loves music and his passion for music started at a very young age where he constantly played imaginary ‘drums’ on
everything he could get hold of. He started worship for the first time at a local youth and at the age of 21, he realized that God wanted to use him as a Worshipper.
Currently, he has his humble informal studio at home where he records his music and also help out others in their musical journeys.

An interview with Matthew Ntumba and Nyasha Piyo of The Nations Band.
Matthew was born in D.R.Congo in Lubumbashi, and moved to Cape Town since 2006. He grew up in church where his Dad is Pastoring until today, and joined the choir at the age of 9 years old.
He started singing in formal settings and also became a worship leader at the age of 13. He lead for the first time a band at the age of 16 called, Harp of David in DRC until 2006.
Currently he is leading the Nations Band in Cape Town at UCT. He released his first recording 2007 and his second in 2013 called Shalom. In 2016 he launched another Album called, Surely The Lord is Here.

Kwasi was born and raised in Mthatha where he attended school up till matric. At the age of 13 he was very fascinated by the idea of how powerful a computer is and how much he could create with it. After matric Kwasi then moved to Port Elizabeth to further his education at the University, where he studied, Mathematical Stats and Computer Science. He developed a passion for IT so he decided to buy a computer and started to learn more about computers and how it operates. He then put the knowledge he acquired about computers into action by helping people with fixing and installing softwares on their computers. He later branched into renting out dvds and screening them on a projector to learners at his previous high school.

An interview with Lundi Landu a Xhosa poet.
Lundi was born and bread in a small village called Mgababa from Peddie and matriculated from Jama Senior Secondary School. He then furthered his studies and graduated from Fort Hare University with a bachelor’s degree in  economics, a Certificate in Public Management Development in Municipal Finance (CPMD) from Stellenbosch University, and Advance Programme in Public Procurement and Supply Chain Management from UNISA. Currently he is working as a Supply Chain Manager for Kouga Local Municipality.
Lundi is also an upcoming poet or writer and has written several poems such as COVID 19 known as Cothoza, Ukudlwengula (Rape) and many other poems which are not published yet. His writing has been triggered by a number of incidents that has directly and indirectly touched his life in a positive and negative way. He then decided to create a Facebook page called SHAPE UKUHLALA.

She is the Founder and Managing Director of Node Project Solutions which is a Construction Project Management company that seeks to provide the best solutions for projects to be completed on time and budget. She is also the owner of The Curl Bar Kenya which is a successful online retail shop that stocks the best of natural hair products from Kenya and around Africa.
Her entrepreneurship journey began when she was 6yrs old when her best friends and herself created what they thought was a herbicide and sold it to their parents. She has always had the need to provide solutions for problems she sees around. Her businesses have ranged from a cupcake business in the estate, popcorn business in high school, selling second-hand books in town, math and physics tutoring business in the university among others.
After 9 years working in the construction industry in South Africa, building 5-star hotels, she moved back to Kenya and saw a big gap in the market for quality professional Project Management services, hence Node Project Solutions was born. Apart from that, as a busy lady with natural hair, she felt that not many retailers provided instant delivery services for quality natural hair products and she established the online shop The Curl Bar.

She sits on the Board of an emotional wellness organization whose key focus is suicide prevention and awareness programs for gender-based violence prevention.
Her passion for community development and people empowerment was nurtured by her mother as a core value in their family. This has become her life’s purpose.

An interview with Hadrian and Tarin Roberts from Dare 2 Dance Studio.
Hadrian and Tarin Roberts were born and bred in PE.  Tarin has danced most of her life in various dance styles from Ballet to Spanish and now Ballroom and Latin. Hadrian started dancing when he met his wife Tarin in 1997, focussing on Ballroom and Latin.
In 2005 they started instructing with Ron Sanderson-Smith at the Sanderson-Smith School of Dance and when he retired in 2009, they took over the school and rebranded it as Dare 2 Dance Studio.
Dare 2 Dance Studio focuses on teaching high school learners Social Ballroom and Latin dancing and its aim is to grow strong young men and women, using dancing as a vehicle.
Since taking over in 2010 the dance studio grew in leaps and bounds.  Their Inter School Competition, the oldest of its kind in SA, grew from taking place in high school halls to the Feather Market Centre, a venue one of the professional couples remarked, reminded them of Blackpool in the UK.
Dare 2 Dance Studio has also produced stage productions which include Romeo and Juliet and their annual Ignite show.
Dancing is their passion and it is such a privilege for them to see young people develop and grow, not just into better dancers, but also in self-belief and confidence.

Denise was born in Keetmanshoop Namibia, then imigrated to South Africa in 1989. She is a
Mother of 10 although only 7 are alive still through God's grace and mercy.
Get Giving Foundation Npo.227-888 started  around May-June 2015 but before she started this NPO she was helping a friend by giving in poor communities in the form of food once a week.
The numbers grew very fast so she started giving soup to those in need at her house, not wanting to interfere with the soup kitchen which was already operating in her area.

Tanaka Candida Mugabe is a mother of two, married and residing in Port Elizabeth. Professionally she has been working in the academic space for the past 10 years. She is currently working at the South African International Maritime Institute (SAIMI) as a Project Coordinator and Researcher. In addition, she is a scholar who also assists with the supervision of Post-Graduate Students. She has an LLB degree and a Master’s in Social Science degree from the University of Fort Hare. Recently Tanaka graduated with a PhD in Sociology from the Nelson Mandela University. She has written a number of government commissioned reports, research articles and draft papers. She has also served on the South African Sociological Association for 2 consecutive years as a council member. In addition, Tanaka has participated in various boards and committees as an advisor. Lastly but not least she is a devout Christian who hopes to use her God given talents to the glory of God.
Her favorite scripture: Psalms 91 vs 1 “He who dwells in the secret place of the most high shall abide under the shadow of the almighty”.

An interview with John Lengeju.
John Lengeju, also fondly known by some as Johnny was born in Lemek, Kenya to Joseph and Maria Lengeju. He was adopted to the Ophanage SOS Children's Village, Nairobi at age 1.5yrs where he grew up in a family of various kids from different backgrounds. He was recognized for academic excellence at a young age and at age 13 was transferred to the prestigious Herman Gmeinner International College in Tema Ghana where he did his IGCSE and International Baccalaureate (IB).
In 2010 he got accepted at NMU for BCom General Business Management which after the due term was unable to complete. He took a gap year in 2013 and pursued his passion in music. He pursued a Diploma in Sound Technology at Damelin College where he was the top academic achiever for three consecutive years.
During his gap year in 2013, the Lord spoke to him and gave him a vision to start a business called Agape Audio Solutions which he started to establish in the month of February 2016.
He is a servant of God and is passionate to see the lives of the youth of South Africa changed forever for the sake of the cross, for the sake of the love of God shown us at the cross of Calvary.

Sinoxolo, known by many as Sino, was born in Port Elizabeth where he discovered his love and passion for people and worship. He has served in various ministries since 2010 and now serves as a Worship Director in Cape Town. He has completed his undergrad studies in music education as well as theology and uses the knowledge he has gained from his tertiary education to keep him grounded in his ministry.
His passion for worship has recently led him and his wife Brittany Ganyaza, to write original songs with the hope of leading others into intimate spaces with God. They both believe in simplifying language and melody in order to help people express their praise and worship to God with ease and passion.
They have also recently welcomed a new addition to their family. A little baby girl by the name Lunamanda (Luna) Avah Ganyaza. They are both enjoying this new season of their lives. 
They are currently preparing to professionally record their music and will provide details on their social media platforms for those who want to partner with them on this journey. Dean was born and bred in PE.
After finishing his TEFL course in 2013, he moved abroad for what he thought would be a one-year contract in China. After not only finding a passion for teaching, he stayed on in China for over five years. During this time, he taught at a number of different schools and worked his way up to being a Foreign Director of a training school.
He returned home at the end of 2019 with the intentions of regrouping and moving on to tech English in another country and then COVID-19 hit!

A telephonic interview with Robin Brendon Harris.
After completing grade 12 at Westering High School in 2005, Robin Harris invested three years at Nelson Mandela University where he completed a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Media, Communication and Culture. His career started with selling Christmas trees in an effort to raise funds for the Association for Persons with Physical Disabilities. He then proceeded to work for the association in a marketing and fundraising capacity until the end of 2012. In 2013, he completed a Postgraduate Certificate in Education at Nelson Mandela University.
His high school education career started in the Northern Cape where he remained until the end of 2017.
Back in Port Elizabeth, he began the journey of rebuilding. In 2018, he worked as a sales person for a local team building company.
He returned to teaching in 2019 where he continues to this day. Robin enjoys guiding learners spiritually, emotionally and academically. During the facilitation of learning, he promotes critical thinking and an emotionally safe environment for the purpose of inspiring learners to become active change agents in the world around them.
Robin is passionate about humanitarianism, disciple making through prophetic evangelism, and seeing the global church equipped and empowered to do the works of Jesus.
